Eroding the erosion control part two
In part one I did preparation work including removal of doors windscreens and a number of smaller parts. About a week later I came back with Euan to rescue some of the larger bits.
One of the first jobs was to deal with the wasps which had made a home on the back of the cab so a can of flyspray was included in the toolkit for the first time I can remember in a recovery. Euan was full of energy and we both ripped into the tasks, completing the demolition and loading in just over two hours.
Although many sheared off some of the lower bolts on the rear cab frame were troublesome and were dealt with using a heavy mash hammer and cold chisel. We were unable to use the 'hot spanner' due to risk of fire in the tinder dry conditions. I packed my whitworth sockets this time as many of the front shell bolts had whitworth heads. The roof was the heaviest item and it and the front shell had to be lifted over a fence and onto the trailer.
Euan rescued some parts such as the manifold and steering box. That's the whitworth socket set - very rarely used but really handy when you need it. Forlorn and derelict, at least some of it has a new lease of life. I'll be back for some of the other parts in due course for the CGT project such as the cab frame and front axle.
